Paper to Plate

LOCATION: Peter Lalor Campus, Robert St Lalor
DESCRIPTION: The activity will be made up of 10 members of Whittlesea U3A and 12 students (years 11 and 12) from Peter Lalor Secondary College. Our members will talk to the students about their life, traditions and family cultures – the main focus of the discussion will be the traditional cooking that has been passed down over the years. Recipes will be offered, cooked and eaten and a recipe book will be created. The book will also include recipes which the students share with the member.
This activity needs a once a fortnight, every fortnight commitment as you will be working with students from Peter Lalor College. Every participant will need to have a Working with Children Check which WU3A will apply for. (there is no cost)

ZOOM: Seed to Plate & Beyond Comm.Garden

COURSE COST $20

Learn how to reduce garden waste, compost, build a worm farm, plant, harvest and so much more.
Share your knowledge and expertise with other participants.
Get involved with your own garden and a local gardening community via this Zoom course from Whittlesea U3A. Learn how to grow and enjoy organically grown fruits, vegetables, and edible flowers, using sustainable practices. Enjoy ‘The Seed to Plate and Beyond’ experience by turning your produce into nourishing and tasty meals.

Classes will include team discussions, show and tell time, and special guest speakers. Videos and demos of real-time community garden practices will be shown by your course leader.

Zoom classes will cater for Beginners to Intermediate Gardening Activities.
If requiring advanced gardening activities, we may also assist.

Family History for Beginners

THIS CLASS WILL GO AHEAD ONLY AFTER GOVERNMENT’S PERMISSIONS

REQUIREMENTS: Must have own Laptop, Notepad and 8gb USB stick

DESCRIPTION: You will be shown how to start your Family History and the different sites to go to find all relevant information

Self Help Genealogy

African Violet Propagation

THIS CLASS WILL GO AHEAD ONLY AFTER GOVERNMENT’S PERMISSIONS

This Class will run on the 3rd Saturday of the month

LOCATION: PRIVATE HOME

REQUIREMENTS: People can bring their violets for us to review progress. Topics will progress through the list below through the year, and may cover people’s interests. We will do potting and look at samples.

Family History

LOCATION: Mill Park Library, 394 Plenty Rd, Mill Park Mel 10 C2 Group meets on 1st, 3rd & 5th Thursday of the month

DESCRIPTION: The family History class is designed to facilitate class members in researching their family history and ancestors. We all work together to use the Internet based tools at Mill Park Library that will best suit our research needs. The Library provides on site versions of ancestry.com, finding mypast.com and numerous other databases without cost to the members.

Book Discussion
