SOWIN – Men’s Health and Wellbeing

Location: Meadowglen Athletics Stadium, Meadowglen Athletics Reserve, 146 – 156 McDonalds Road,Epping (Melway 182 J12)

Health topics covered will include:
1) Nutrition with a focus on sugar
2) How to support a mate experiencing mental health issues
3) Prostate cancer chat with the EJ Whitten Foundation
4) How to be an ‘upstander’ and take small actions to
contribute to gender equality
5) Alcohol culture, a workshop on what influences or
drinking behaviour
6) An introduction to clubs, groups and activities ‘In your
Backyard’ so you can continue to be active after the
program

Blueprint for Retiring

1 DAY SESSION: 10am-4.00pm. BRING YOUR LUNCH. Tea & Coffee provided.

The class will run ONCE a Term. Dates – 16 Feb, 11 May,
3 August & 2 November.

Retiring is about more than how much money you have and how long it will last.

This class is for new generation of people going through retirement transition who want to make the most of their next 30 years but struggle with the overwhelming question; “what will I do with my time?” and are afraid they won’t be able to find new forms of personal satisfaction.

This session invites some self-reflection as a basis for actively choosing what will give you new forms of personal satisfaction as you move into retiring. It also looks at some of the resources available to find your chosen activity, and developing your personal Blueprint for Retiring.

Chinese Medicine and Wellbeing

The class will run weekly for 6 weeks.

This course will provide a historical perspective, the philosophy, fundamental principles and contemporary practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Self maintaining using TCM and healthy food topics:
1) Health preserving based on seasonal change
2) Understanding questions asked by TCM doctors
3) Herbs Commonly used in Chinese Cuisine
4) Ways to improve health without taking drugs

Workshop: Traditional Health Protection
Exercise: Eight section brocade exercise
